After the passing of the nationally recognized and well respected MidAm show was the birth of a whole new trade show with quite a future. iLandscape was developed within a year and had its first debut this February. Bret-Mar Landscape was proud to participate and support the inaugural iLandscape trade show and Illinois Landscape Contractors Association (ILCA). iLandscape is the place for Bret-Mar to network with other landscape professionals, growers, nurseries, and other vendors. The show offers educational sessions, recognizes companies for their accomplishments over the year, displays new and trendy products, and kicks off the 2014 season.
Sharon, Kurt, and Ashley were all recognized at iLandscape for their amateur landscape photography. The contest, iPix, was new for the 2014 season. All ILCA members were invited to participate and enter photos into the various categories. All categories were based upon landscapes whether it was natural or man-made. Sharon took 3rd place for her photograph entered in the Best Public Garden category. Kurt took 3rd place for his photograph entered in the Best Sunset category and Ashley took 2nd place for her photograph entered in the Best Seasonal category. Many other photographs by Bret-Mar employees were recognized as honorable mentions as well.
Bret-Mar was well represented at many of the educational sessions. Some of the sessions included Amazing New Plant Varieties and Maximizing Layout with Dr. Allan Armitage, Intelligent Design for Seniors, Garden to Plate- Edibles in the Landscape, and Where have all the trees gone? Long Time Passing with John Ball, professor at South Dakota State University. It was great for Ashley to attend a seminar with one of her professors from South Dakota State University. John Ball is well respected nationwide in the landscape, horticulture, and arborist industries. Sharon also attended The Great Armi Walkabout. This was a two hour, once in a lifetime experience with Dr. Allan Armitage . Dr. Armitage was recognized as one of the best teachers in the nation multiple times throughout his teaching career. His walkabout tour on the trade show floor visited many nurseries and growers to discuss his favorite plants. This was an opportunity to experience a side of plants that was never before known or expected.
Overall, iLandscape was a great kickoff to the 2014 season! Now if only the snow would melt!!
