Palos Heights Landscaping Services
Bret-Mar Landscape provides Palos Heights landscaping services that refresh established yards, turning overgrown beds, older layouts, and dated features into a landscape that fits the way you live today. You keep the mature trees and good bones your property already has, and we update everything around them.
Our Approach to Refreshing an Established Yard
An established yard rarely needs to start from scratch. It needs a clear plan for what to keep, what to update, and what to replace.
We begin with a clear understanding of:
how you use your outdoor living space now, and how you want to use it
which trees, shrubs, and garden beds are still worth keeping
where problem areas like soil erosion, heavy rain runoff, or tired lawn sit on the property
The result is a landscape that feels refreshed and intentional, while keeping the natural beauty that years of growth have already given you.
Updated for Today, Built for the Years Ahead
Plantings that looked right twenty years ago often outgrow their space, crowd walkways, or block windows. We make new plant selections suited to your property, soil, sun and shade, local climate, and the USDA hardiness zone, and we design with growth, maintenance, and durability in mind so your refresh holds up as it matures.
Whatever your goal:
renewed curb appeal for an older home
functional outdoor spaces that match how your family lives now
a better connection between home, landscape, and hardscape
Our landscaping services create a foundation that supports it all.

Adam
CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER
Adam was raised in the landscape industry and developed an early fascination with heavy equipment and hands-on construction. From a young age, he was drawn to understanding how things work—spending hours building and rebuilding projects with Legos, which naturally evolved into a passion for operating equipment and constructing outdoor spaces. He joined the family business after studying Agriculture and Soil Science at South Dakota State University, where he was also a member of the FarmHouse Fraternity. Adam oversees the operations side of the business, managing project construction and field execution. Outside of work, he is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys spending time with his dog, Charlie, and ice fishing.

LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT
From an early age, Sharon knew she wanted to pursue a career in the landscape industry. Her first job, while in high school, was at a garden center, where she developed a strong passion for plants and horticulture. She studied Landscape Architecture at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where she also met her husband, Kurt. The landscape industry remains a lifelong passion for Sharon, and she enjoys spending time in her garden harvesting vegetables and cut flowers alongside her dog, Elly.
Adding Water Features to an Established Landscape
A water feature is one of the easiest ways to give a mature yard a new focal point. Bret-Mar Landscape designs and installs water features that add sound, movement, and visual interest to an existing landscape, placed so they fit the trees and garden beds already in place. Our water feature service covers everything from design through installation and ongoing care.
Whether you want to update an older water feature or add a new waterfall, our team has the experience to make it feel like part of the original design.
Lawn Care Services That Bring an Older Lawn Back
An established lawn can thin out after years of shade from mature trees, compacted soil, and heavy rain. Our lawn care services start with what the lawn needs at the root level, and where a lawn is too far gone, sod installation gives you a fresh start.
With regular lawn mowing and seasonal care, your yard stays green and healthy through a full Chicagoland season, without adding yard work to your busy schedule.
A Landscape Contractor Palos Heights Homeowners Trust
Choosing the right landscape contractor matters even more when you are updating a yard you already love. As a second-generation family business, Bret-Mar Landscape has built its reputation on professional landscaping, clear communication, exceptional service, and customer satisfaction every step of the way.
Whether your project is a single bed refresh or a new landscape across the whole property, we bring the same level of care. Property owners who invest in a thoughtful refresh protect their property value and get beautiful landscapes that keep improving with time.
We also provide local services to nearby Palos Park and the surrounding area.
