Palos Park Landscaping Services
Bret-Mar Landscape provides Palos Park landscaping services designed around wooded lots, mature trees, and the natural setting that makes this community feel like home. We plan landscapes that work with the trees and terrain you already have, instead of clearing them away.
Our Approach to Landscaping on Wooded Lots
Great landscapes don't happen by accident. On a wooded property, they start with what is already there.
We begin with a clear understanding of
how you live and use your outdoor space
how your trees, slopes, and drainage shape the property
how each new element should sit within the natural surroundings
The result is a landscape that feels like it has always belonged, yet performs beautifully in every season.
Designed Around Mature Trees, Built for Real Life
Mature trees are one of the biggest assets a Palos Park property can have, and they shape everything around them: where the shade falls, how water moves after heavy rain, and which plants will thrive underneath. We select plant material suited to your property, soil structure, sun and shade, and the local USDA hardiness zone, and we design with growth, maintenance, and durability in mind.
Whatever your goal:
curb appeal that frames your home with its trees
a quiet outdoor space under the canopy
a natural connection between home, landscape, and the woods beyond
Our landscaping services create a foundation that supports it all.
Professional Palos Park Landscaping Services
Palos Park sits in southwest Cook County, surrounded by forest preserve land, and many homes here sit on wooded lots with rolling terrain. At Bret-Mar Landscape, we bring over 40 years of experience and a genuine commitment to quality work to every residential landscaping project in Palos Park, with crews based nearby in Homer Glen.
We understand the local climate, including the heavy clay soils common throughout the region and the demands that come with each season, from early spring growth to summer heat stress. Our licensed landscape architects and landscape designers plan every project around your home's needs, and our crews install it with care for the trees and roots already on site.
Our residential landscaping services in Palos Park include:

From a young age, he was drawn to understanding how things work—spending hours building and rebuilding projects with Legos, which naturally evolved into a passion for operating equipment and constructing outdoor spaces. He joined the family business after studying Agriculture and Soil Science at South Dakota State University, where he was also a member of the FarmHouse Fraternity. Adam oversees the operations side of the business, managing project construction and field execution. Outside of work, he is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys spending time with his dog, Charlie, and ice fishing.

Her first job, while in high school, was at a garden center, where she developed a strong passion for plants and horticulture. She studied Landscape Architecture at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where she also met her husband, Kurt. The landscape industry remains a lifelong passion for Sharon, and she enjoys spending time in her garden harvesting vegetables and cut flowers alongside her dog, Elly.
Water Features for Palos Park Landscapes
On a wooded lot, a water feature can feel like it was always part of the landscape. Bret-Mar Landscape designs and installs water features that serve as a natural focal point, adding sound, movement, and visual interest among the trees. Our water feature service covers everything from initial design through installation and ongoing care, so your investment continues to perform season after season.
Whether you are drawn to a quiet pond or the energy of a waterfall, our team has the experience to place it so it fits the terrain and the rest of your landscape.
Lawn Care and Healthy Lawns Under Mature Trees
Lawns on wooded properties face different conditions than open yards. Shade, tree roots, and fallen leaves all affect how grass grows. Our lawn care and lawn maintenance services are planned around those conditions, focusing on what the lawn needs at the root level to support long-term health, color, and density.
In spots where shade is too heavy for turf, planting beds can fill in where grass struggles, so every part of the yard looks intentional through a full Chicagoland season.
